postheadericon About the band "Joshua Davidson"

Auditory Radiance Technicians

The term “art rock,” covers a lot of ground, as does this group of five that hails from the Southern, Oklahoma city of Duncan. The band, “Joshua Davidson,” named after a common friend and collaborator, has a difficult time defining their particular style of music. As they all come from different musical backgrounds including blues, classical, post-punk, progressive and hard rock. Yet, somehow, in humble fashion, they are able to meet in the middle, as five fingers of one hand. Those fingers are guitarists Eddie Rogers & Kurt Daniels, keyboardist Tommy Win, drummer Rich Waldron & bassist Richard Bailey. All of whom contribute equally to their overall sound.

As the (Riches) lay down foundations of progressive rock infused rhythms, the others build on those foundations, creating an eclectic landscape of songs that vary from nostalgic to experimental. Rogers, a music instructor, whose guitars flow naturally from minimalistic melodies to fiery metallic leads, are all tastefully situated. While, Win, who was stricken blind as a young child, uses his versatility to give the impression that there is an entourage of musicians involved, as his fingers scurry along the keys like startled spiders. And, Daniels, when he isn’t stomping the fuzz box, has more of a deconstructive approach that centers on ambient undertones bringing radiance to the overall sound. Daniels & Rogers share the spot of lead vocals. Both of whom focus largely on mercy, repentance and disillusionment with the world. Rich & Richard also chime in to complete occasional four part harmonies in addition to their (all places at once) playing styles and nonchalant time signature changes.

All in all, the hand has a firm grasp on the future. Being forerunners of their genre, “Joshua Davidson,” have the prospect of becoming an influential force as innovators of Christian art rock. Creating music as children of an exceptionally, creative God.
